Hi, I’m Layken Rubin — welcome! I live in Birmingham, Alabama with my husband, our two children, and our rescue cats, Mogley and Luna. I have a background in graphic design and I currently teach high school art and digital photography, where I get to encourage creativity every single day.

I’ve spent my entire life in the South — born in Alabama, childhood in Mississippi, and now proudly rooted back in Birmingham. Being surrounded by makers, artists, and creatives has deeply shaped who I am.

My love for art and having my hands messy from making, goes back as far as I can remember. Art has always provided me with the opportunity to connect with people build community through creativity.
